Atheists United SLO is a meeting place for all atheists, agnostics, and science-based skeptics to get to know each other, share ideas and build a community of like minded individuals in San Luis Obispo County. We have a vibrant and active organization that offers a variety of events to suit individual interests.
With 400 members, support for a secular and religion-free lifestyle in our small community is strong.
Whether you're just looking for a social outlet to meet other-non believers or you want to engage in more atheist activism, discussions and reading, we have activities planned that welcome your involvement.

Join us for an evening with director Christopher Johnson who will screen his new documentary film A Better Life: An Exploration of Joy and Meaning in a World Without God.
There is no God. Now what? If this is the only life we have, how does that affect how we lives our lives, how we treat each other, and cope with death.
As a follow-up to one of Kickstarter’s most successful publishing projects, photographer and filmmaker Chris Johnson introduces us to some of the many voices from his book.
Join Chris as he explores issues of joy & meaning and travels around the globe meeting people from all walks of life and backgrounds who challenge the false stereotypes of atheists as immoral and evil.
From Daniel Dennett and A.C. Grayling, to Julia Sweeney and Robert Llewellyn, learn the various ways many atheists have left religion to a better life filled with love, compassion, hope, and wonder!
Doors open at 6:00 for food & drinks, film at 6:30 PM.
Cafe menu is available for bites with wine & beer cash bar. Admission is $5 at the door and open to the public with donations also much appreciated! After the screening, we will have a live question and answer with director Christopher Johnson.
RECENT NEWS!Dr. Ray Weymann Receives 2015 Humanist Award
AUSLO awarded the 2015 Humanist Award to retired astrophysicist Ray Weymann for his outstanding efforts to advance the public understanding of science in our community. The award was part of the Central Coast Coalition of Reason’s Week of Reason, a series of events celebrating secular values.
“Ray is truly a scientific beacon in our community, illuminating our understanding of important local and global issues,” said Steve Arkowitz, president of AU SLO.
